I Will Be Right Here

The day that I first saw you
Is still fresh in my mind,
Still remember that first time,
I set my eyes on you.

I did feel a certain flutter,
And maybe you did too
But I didn’t really give a second look,
Never knew it could be so true.

Looked at you out of the corner of my eye
And maybe you too gave me a glance.
Tried to talk, gave it a try,
But Providence never showed a chance.

Stumbled, fell, and tripped all the way,
No one cared, as I delved in the deep dark.
I stopped trying to make myself say
To you, the way you’d make me spark.

I gave life a chance, more than once.
Never really got what I wanted.
Just looked at the rising and drowning suns,
As life passed by, and I was left behind.

I played the fool, and I knew I did.
Now I know you saw me blunder.
But that time I was too blind to see,
And to the buzz of life, I had to surrender.

Guess I never had the chance to look back,
And see if you were there for me.
I was dead, life was black,
All my emotions were at sea.

I returned to where I’d started from,
And life was just a dead standstill.
My conscience still raged an inner storm,
Every breath seemed to kill.

And then one day- I don’t recall when
We hesitantly said “Hello”
You entered and decorated my life then
The sweet melody of life, began to flow.

It was more than just the ordinary,
You made me feel oh! So free,
And I really began to believe in love,
Thanked all the heavens above.

What I had needed were you,
But still obligations held me tied.
And I just didn’t know what to do,
Felt so incapable of anything anymore.

Love won over all else,
And now I’m there, just for you.
Now I know all the time I’d lost, when
“You and me” just wouldn’t do.

But now that I’m here
There’s this one thing I promise
I’m standing right by you, my dear
And together is our world of forever bliss.

You gave me courage, made me strong
You’re the reason I’m holding on
I know you’re there, be I right or wrong,
My pains have lessened, if not gone.

The sweet nothings we talk for hours
Make me live life, all day through
The way we murmur “I love you” empowers
My heart and soul- divine and true.

The days seem to stretch into years
And each second ticks, just so long.
Your love helps me face my fears
Gives me hope, make me strong.

I’ll be right here, all the way
I promise I’ll never take back my word.
Living life with you, a smile a day
I know that my oaths, you have heard.

I trust you, and always will,
And pray for us to last on and on.
I’ll be with you, valley and hill,
Our love will last, long after we are gone.
